Our Team
The Ridgecrest WEB Coordinating Teachers
Mrs. Cordova, Mrs. LopezLavalle, Mr. Derz, Mr. Esparza, and Mr. Oschman
All five WEB coordinating teachers at Ridgecrest have received an extensive certification training in order to successfully implement the WEB program at Ridgecrest, and are currently entering their fourth full year of running the program.
WEB, which stands for “Where Everybody Belongs,” is a middle school orientation and transition program that welcomes 6th/7th graders and makes them feel comfortable throughout the first year of their middle school experience. Built on the belief that students can help students succeed, the program trains mentors from your 8th grade class to be WEB Leaders. As positive role models, WEB Leaders are mentors and student leaders who guide the 6th/7th graders to discover what it takes to be successful during the transition to middle school and help facilitate 6th/7th grade success (from the Boomerang Project website).
If you are a 7th grader thinking about applying for the WEB program, WEB Leaders are 8th graders who are good role models for younger students and who have been successful at our middle school. WEB Leaders’ communication skills, leadership potential, responsibility, and personality have helped them succeed in the middle school environment, and the lessons they have learned should be shared to help others succeed.
